This pattern is made with 4ply yarn and size G crochet hook. The basic diamond pattern can be created in different variations of the diamond and different color schemes.

Crochet as many chains required to reach your desired width, but it needs to be an odd number of chains. Each row is done individually so you will have fringe on each edge.

This pattern is worked in single crochet in the back loops!

Row 1: Using one of your colors – single crochet across leaving the desired amount of yarn on both ends for your fringe. Approximately, the length of your crochet hook, or to your desired length. Cut off at end.

Row 2 – 5: Repeat row 1

Row 6: 15 sc, the 1 dc (double crochet) picking up the top of the sc from row 5. (the double crochet will always be picked up from the prior sc row), *15sc, 1dc*, all the way across.

NOTE: All sc's between the double will be odd numbers

Row 7: *14 sc, 1 dc, 1 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

Row 8: *13 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

Row 9: *12 sc, 1 dc, 5 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

Row 10: *11 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

Row 11: *10 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1dc, 1sc, 1dc, 3 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

Row 12: *9 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

Row 13: *8 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc, 5 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

Row 14: *7 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc, 7 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

Row 15: *6 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc, 9 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

Row 16: *5 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc, 11 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

Row 17: *4 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc, 13 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

Row 18: *5 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc, 11 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

Row 19: *6 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc, 9 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

Row 22: *9 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

Row 23: *10 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc, 1 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

Row 24: *11 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

Row 25: *12 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

Row 26: *13 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

Row 27: *14 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

Row 28: *15 sc, 1 dc*, repeat * * across, finish off.

This has completed a diamond pattern.

Repeat Rows 7 – 28 until you have reached your desired length.

Repeat Rows 1 – 6 to finish off the hem of the afghan.

Trim fringe to equal and desired length.

Remember any color or combinations of color work very well for this pattern. The diamond shape can also be varied by size and inserting another diamond into the other one.
